Olympics: Getting There
The Winter Olympics are actually being held in Turin (or Torino) Italy - which is about a five hour drive by car from where I'm living in Strasbourg. I was so close, that I HAD to go.In order to get there we left Strasbourg by car at 12 noon on Friday, and then we arrived about 6:00 PM in Bardonnecchia - where we were staying. It also turned out that this is the village that is having the snow boarding competitions.
Since we had to drive through Switzerland (and the famous Swiss Alps), we also had to go through a lot of tunnels. Here's a picture of me going through one tunnel that was under a mountain and more than 13 kilometers long (if you want to know how much that is in miles - you can click here).
