A Saturday in Strasbourg: Lunch
Lunch is very important in France - especially during the weekend. Stores will close at noon and not reopen until 2, so that everyone can enjoy their lunch. Today we had a lot of things to do, so we didn't have a big lunch - just a quick pizza at home.If we're out in town and we're in a hurry, we'll order a local dish called TARTE FLAMBEE. It's a really thin pizza crust with some cheese, cream, and onions - sometimes you can even get it with mushrooms or ham. The french translation for TARTE FLAMBEE is (roughly) flaming tart - and the reason is because the oven is so hot, that it only needs to cook for about 3 minutes.
