Egypt: Valley of the Queens (Luxor)

Also on the west side of the Nile from Luxor is the Valley of Queens. If you were married to a Pharoah or were a royal prince who died before he was 14, this is where you were buried.

Like in the Valley of the Kings, the pharoahs realized that building a huge pyramid for a tomb was probably not the smartest idea, since everyone knew where all your treasures would be - and it would get stolen. So around 1500 BC, they started to build their tombs in the Valley of the Queens. We saw one tomb of a queen and her son that was next to hers, but they were very similar to what we saw in the Valley of the Kings.

Most of the tombs have been robbed (King Tut's was famous because it had not been), but you can still see the original walls paintings in their original colors.
